Hunu

Hunu makes reusable drinking cups that fold down, concertina-style to a small disc, making it easy to slip into any bag or pocket and always be on hand when needed.

Founders Vince and Megan wanted to make the switch to reusable coffee cups after learning that over 165 million single use cups end up in landfill every day, but they just couldn’t find a design that was convenient, stylish and easy to fit into their everyday routines.  So, they set about creating their own!  The aim was to make something that was so easy to use, carry and clean that it would be a more straightforward choice for consumers.

Made from high-quality, durable silicone, the cups have a stretchy heat band for a comfortable hold.  The lid has a concealed air hole to make drinking easier and a leak proof plug to keep pockets and bags clean after use. Although initially designed with coffee drinkers in mind, of course the cup is suitable for all drinks, both hot and cold.  The 2 larger sizes (Hunu+) come with a soft silicone straw that rolls neatly into the folded down cup when not in use. The cups fold down to between 2cm – 3.5cm. Safe for use in dishwasher, microwave and freezer.

The lid and plug pin are made from polypropylene plastic, which has been made from recycled plastic. The cup, straw and plug are made from food-grade silicone.  Although the lid can only be recycled in a specific process and silicone does not biodegrade naturally, the Hunu team are working with partners to find a recycling solution and aim to introduce an ‘end of life’ service in the future.  The cups are packaged in recycled cardboard.

Hunu launched in the UK but now also trades in the US. The cups are made in China by a company working to Sedex ethical trading standards. Hunu donates 1% of sales to environmental causes that help disadvantaged youths get into nature through 1% For the Planet.
